The Cub Section

The 1st Winchester Scout Group has two Cub Packs, The Celts and The Vikings, and both packs run the same programme, although not always in the same order, as recommended by the scouting movement.  Both packs do their camps and day trips together as well and at the core of our programme lies the Cub Scout Law and Promise. There is a very good description of what Cubs get up to on the national Scout Web Site which is worth a visit.

By tradition, Cub Scouting has adopted some ideas from Rudyard Kipling's "The Jungle Book".  Indeed until 1967 the section were known as Wolf Cubs.  Some of these ideas are still adopted by the Cubs section today which explains the name given to leaders: Akela, Baloo and Bagheera.
